This policy explains what information the Paisly app collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We have tried to keep it short and in plain language.
Who we are
Paisly is a personal finance app developed by MUHAMMAD ALI, based in Pakistan. In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean MUHAMMAD ALI. "You" means anyone who uses the Paisly app or this website.
If you have a question about this policy or your data, email paisly.support@gmail.com.
Information we collect
We collect only what the app needs to work and to improve. Most of it is information you type in yourself. The table below lists every type of data, why we collect it and whether you can leave it out.

Information about other people
When you record a debt you can add the other person’s name and, optionally, their email address. We use that email only to send the reminders you ask us to send.
What we do not collect
Paisly does not connect to your bank and never asks for card numbers, PINs or banking passwords. We do not collect your location, contacts, messages or advertising ID.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- create and secure your account, including sending sign-up and password-reset codes by email;
- store and show your transactions, accounts, budgets, debts and investments;
- send the budget alerts and debt reminders you turn on or ask for;
- email you exports of your data when you request them;
- find and fix crashes and errors;
- understand, in aggregate, which features people use so we can improve them;
- protect the service from abuse, such as repeated failed sign-in attempts; and
- meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, we do not show ads, and we do not use your financial records to build advertising profiles.
Where your data is stored and who processes it
Your account and records are stored on our servers, which are run by the service providers below. They process data only on our instructions and only to provide their service to us. Some of them may store data outside your country; where that happens we rely on their contractual safeguards.
| Provider | What they do for us | Data they process |
|---|---|---|
| MongoDB Atlas | Database hosting | Your account and the financial records you enter |
| Render | Server hosting | Requests between the app and our servers |
| Cloudinary | Image storage | Profile photos you upload |
| Email delivery provider | Sending email | Your email address, plus a debt contact’s email when you send a reminder |
| Sentry | Crash reporting | Crash logs, diagnostics, masked error replays, account ID and email |
| PostHog | Product analytics | App interactions and a random analytics ID |
The app also keeps some of your data on your phone so it opens quickly. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in your phone's settings, removes that copy.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and records for as long as your account is open. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data from our live systems within 30 days. Copies in encrypted backups are overwritten within a further 30 days.
Crash reports and analytics events are kept by our providers for a limited period and then deleted. We may keep information for longer only where the law requires it.
How we protect it
Data travels between the app and our servers over encrypted (HTTPS) connections. Passwords are stored only as salted hashes, never in plain text. Sign-in is protected by expiring access tokens and limits on repeated attempts. No system is perfectly secure, so if you think your account has been compromised, contact us straight away.
Your choices and rights
You are in control of your data:
- See and correct it. Everything you have entered is visible and editable in the app.
- Take a copy. Export your transactions as a CSV file from Settings.
- Remove optional details. You can remove your phone number or profile photo at any time.
- Delete it. Delete individual records in the app, or delete your whole account.
Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, such as to object to certain processing or to complain to a data protection authority. To use any of these rights, email paisly.support@gmail.com. We will reply within 30 days.
Children
Paisly is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, email paisly.support@gmail.com and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If the change is significant, we will also tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
